Slick Veggie Chicken: A Chinese Vegetarian Recipe



Slick Veggie Chicken, cooked with tofu chicken and other goodies (see recipe)





  • 1 package of flavored fried tofu or veggie chicken

  • 1 lettuce

  • 2 table spoon cooking oil

  • 2 cloves of garlic

  • 2 slices of ginger root

  • 2 scallions

  • 1 table spoon of veggie broth

  • 1 table spoon of soy sauce

  • 1 tea spoon of white pepper

  • 1 tea spoon of sugar

  • 1 table spoon of corn starch

  • 1 cup of water




  1. Rinse lettuce leave-by-leave by cool water

  2. Heat up cooking oil and stir fry lettuce quickly for 2-3 minutes till tender
    (Don’t cook for too long, the lettuce will come out with too much water later on)

  3. Place the lettuce in a big plate

  4. Slice the flavored fried tofu or veggie chicken and chop the scallions

  5. Stir fry with garlic, ginger root and scallions for 30 seconds

  6. Add in fried tofu slices and cook for 1 or 1.5 minutes

  7. Put veggie broth, soy sauce, white pepper, sugar into the pot

  8. Mix up to 2 cups of cool water with corn starch and cook with the contents for 2 minutes

  9. Before serving, filter all the water in the lettuce plate

  10. Have the gravy on the top of the lettuce
